This morning we spotted a small animal hopping across our lower patio. Helen said, it looked like a small weasel. About 3 minutes later, it returned carrying a mouse that looked bigger than the weasel. I looked up weasels on the internet and found this photo of a juvenile that looked like what we saw except ours was smaller. This is the first weasel we have ever seen on our property.
Helen and I as part of being Volunteer Rangers for the Eaglenest Wildernest and Dillon Ranger District, fulfilled on one of our days by hiking up the Ptarmigan Trail. This photo was taken when we started and shows the wildflowers with Buffalo and Red Mtn Peak in the background.
The first .5 mile was loaded with wildflowers. Some of the best we have seen around Summit County.
Today, we adopted "Vino" from the Summit County Animal Shelter. He is a brown tabby about 9 weeks old and only weighs 2.5lbs. He hasn't eaten or drank any water since we brought him home around 2PM today but has cuddled up to both of us for a couple of cat bonding naps.
Friday morning we were making breakfast and we noticed the mountain reflecting in the kitchen window. I took several photos and found it difficult to get the mountain image in focus. I guess the camera could not tell if the image was in the window or on the tree behind our house.
