This is a photo of a Guina Hen taken on the afternoon game drive at Lebala Camp in the Okvango Delta of Botswana. Click here to view other photos from that afternoon.


On the second day, we left camp really early (6:15am) to drive two hours to hopefully view the Wild Dogs. Timing was perfect as we arrived just when the pack was returning to the den after their early morning hunt. We were able to watch the Alpha male feed his pups by regurgitating the kill up for each pup and then when they were all fed, he would then feed the alpha female mother. On the morning of the 3rd at Lebala, we began our drive early while the sun was still rising. At the end of the drive, we were able to view a Leopard with his kill laying next to a small bush. I still don't know how the tracker spotted it but he did. After our drive, we had to leave our Botswana camps and head for Namibia. We flew by small plane to Maun, Botswana and then to Johannesburg, South Africa. Click Here to view more photos from this day.

14 Oct 2009 - Kwara Camp in Botswana Photos

Below are links to our photos from the Kwara Camp in Botswana. We arrived there by small plane on the afternoon of Sept 6th just in time for the afternoon game drive. These drives did not get back into camp until after sunset. The guides wake you up at 6AM. At 6:30AM, you meet for a cup of coffee and some bush mush (oatmeal)and then off for the morning game drive. We would arrive back at the camp somewhere around 10:30-12:30PM for breakfast. You then showered, napped, write notes, review photos, and relax during the heat until 3:30PM High Tea. Then you start another afternoon/evening game drive.

08 Oct 2009 - Hyena bathing at a watering hole

I am working on getting this to work properly. It is a video we took of a hyena stopping by the water hole to take a bath. I am having problems getting Quicktime to work. For right now you can click on the image and after some time it will display. The clip is about 3 mins.

7 Oct 2009 - Okavango Delta Elephant

While on a boat ride at the Kwara Camp in Botswana we were met by the magnificent elephant slowing walking through the water. The boat stopped he slowly approached the boat and turned and walked off. We could only hear the "sloshing" of water as he walked away.
