11 Sept 2010 - Visiting Deer

Just finished my shower and looked out the bathroom window and spotted these two fawns muching away at the flowers. The mother was near by and they continued eating their way into the front yard and then down the driveway. Fall is here and winter is not far behind. In 2008, our first snow was a major storm on September 12th. They need as much food as they can find

23 Aug 2010 - Early Morning Bear & Now a Deer

At about 7AM, our cat Vino was looking out the screen door onto our deck, he came running down the hallway and hid under our bed. Helen left to go on a bike ride and came back in after a few minutes to tell me that it appeared that a bear just went through. All three of our garbage cans were turned over (luckily they were empty). On our deck, one humming bird feeder that was on a small table was now on the deck.

Vino has finally come out from under the bed but does not want to go the screen door.

This afternoon, while looking at the bedroom window, we spotted this deer eating its way the our front yard.

Not sure what we will find this evening....

21 Oct 2007 - Winter Storm

Yesterday, Helen and I got up and decided to ride our bikes to Frisco to run some errands. It was beautiful day and we knew that could be our last day to ride our bikes since a winter storm was being predicted for Saturday evening. Late afternoon, we went to see "Into the Wild" (directed by Sean Penn). Great movie. When we got back home around 7PM, Helen made a comment about how warm it was and surprised that it hadn't started snowing. We started to close our blinds and noticed lighting and then the winds started and snow started falling. This morning we have about 5-6" of snow and it is still snowing. I took this photo this morning when we were visited by mom and her two little ones looking for food in the snow.

Looks like winter has started in the high country.
