26 April 2011 - First Royal Fan

While watching the Today show this morning, they reported about a person that
has set up camp on the pavement across the road from the famous Westminster Abbey, equipped only with a sleeping bag and two Union Jack carrier bags, and intends to remain there all week to beat the tens of thousands of spectators expected and ensure a good view of Prince William and Kate' Royal Wedding event on Friday.

I knew he looked familiar. While we were living in London in 2007, I attended the 10th Anniversary of the death of Princess Diana. So I searched thru my 2007 London photos and found this photo of this guy, John Loughrey, that I took on that day.

Here is a link to a recent news story about him.

5 Apr 2011 - Summit Sunset

Wonderful sunset tonight. It first looked like it won't be anything special and then all of the sudden it happened. I ran up stairs to get my camera. Went outside and the battery was dead. Rushed back inside grabed another camera. It's battery was also dead. Found another battery and went back outside just in time to get a photo before the sunset was over.

Right now, I am charging three different batteries for three different cameras. Do not want to miss this in the future.

5 Apr 2011 - Osprey returns to Summit County

Every year around the 1st of April, the Ospreys return to Summit County to claim their nest high above the Golf course near our home. Today, one has returned as we were able to see him ( I assume) sitting in the nest.

Robins returned about 3-4 weeks ago. Now we will keep our eyes out for Bluebirds and Hummingbirds.

4 Apr 2011 - Late Winter Storm

This morning we had about 9-10" of snow that arrived late Sunday night. On Saturday, we did a walk up the road behind us and watched a couple of people ski down the edge of Buffalo Mtn. In Denver, they set a new record high temperature on Apr 2nd at 84 degrees. On Sunday, I70 was closed in both directions from Denver to Vail.

1 Apr 2011 - New 2011 Prius

.Today, we traded our 2008 Prius in for new 2011 model. The warranty on the 2008 expires this month, new models have a little more horsepower but get better mileage. We also upgraded from a model two to four which includes heated leather seats.

When we drove it back up the mountains we could really notice the extra power coming up to the Eisenhower Tunnel.

We don't plan to put snow tires on it for the remainder of the season so it make take some time before we burn our first tank of gas and check our mileage.
