14 Sept 2007 - Venice, Italy

On our final day in Italy, we drove back to the Venice airport, returned our car, put our bags in storage, and took the water taxi out to San Marcos section of Venice. We were fortunate that the water taxi was leaving within a few minutes because it only run every hour and we only had about 5 hours to tour Venice before returning to the airport to fly back to London. Although the ferry ride was over an hour, we were on our way. The weather was warm and the skies were "Colorado Blue". We immediately went to San Marco Piazza as did thousands of other people, to view the Clock Tower, Basilica of San Marco and the Bridge of Sighs. We then wondered the back canals and streets, had gelato, drank a bottle of wine with our lunch in a quite square, and walked to the other side of the island to catch our water taxi back to the airport. We had a wonderful time in our short visit to Venice and arrived back in London around 11:30PM.
