31 March 2009 - This one survived...

We have several bird feeders in our side yard and keep them full to feed the birds. Downside is that we also have big windows on this side of the house and lose several birds each year as they think they can fly through the window.

Today, we heard the sound of a bird hitting window. We spotted a red wing black bird oPublish Postn the snow not moving. He appeared to be knocked out. After about 15 minutes, he started to move and finally was able to fly back up into the tree near the bird feeder.

He sat there for several minutes and then flew away.

This one was lucky and probably has a bad headache.
